A focused clinical examination, with X-rays only when useful, to review your teeth, gums, oral tissues, bite and existing dental work.

At a glance
Teeth, gums, oral tissues, bite and existing restorations are considered together.
X-rays are recommended only when the clinical findings and history justify them.
Monitoring, prevention or treatment options are explained before planned care.
What we assess
Visible surfaces, contacts and suspicious areas are examined for early signs of disease.
Bleeding, recession and periodontal risk factors are assessed.
The tongue, cheeks and other soft tissues are observed during the examination.
Clenching, grinding, jaw comfort and patterns of tooth wear may be discussed.
Fillings, crowns, bridges, implants and dentures are checked.
Home care, fluoride and diet advice are tailored to the findings.
Your visit
Symptoms, concerns, health history and previous care are reviewed.
The dentist completes a systematic assessment.
X-rays or other tests are added only when they can answer a clinical question.
The findings, priorities, options and estimated fees are explained.
Fees & insurance
A check-up may generally range from about CHF 80 to 200, with X-rays and additional tests charged according to the care provided and DENTOTAR®. Routine dental care is generally not covered by Swiss compulsory health insurance; statutory exceptions and supplementary cover depend on the individual case and policy.

An early, calm visit helps a child become familiar with the practice and gives parents age-appropriate preventive advice. The dentist then recommends an individual recall interval.
The diagnosis, urgency, alternatives and estimated cost are discussed before non-emergency treatment is arranged.
