A jewel for your smile, not your enamel

The big question everyone asks first: does it damage your teeth? The answer is no – and that's the whole genius of tooth gems. The crystal is bonded to the surface of the enamel with a certified dental adhesive (exactly the same technology as orthodontic brackets). It does not penetrate the tooth, does not drill into it, does not alter it. Once removed, your tooth is exactly as it was before.

It is therefore not a dental piercing (which requires drilling into the enamel). It's closer to a surface jewel: temporary, reversible, and completely safe when applied by a professional.

Crystal, Swarovski or synthetic diamond: what’s the difference?

Not all dental gems are equal. At Cabinet Dentaire du Casino, we offer three categories:

Swarovski Crystal : the most popular option. A subtle and refined sparkle, visible when the light catches it but not flashy in everyday life.
Synthetic diamond : for those who want maximum brilliance and an unmistakably “luxury” look.

The application takes between 15 to 20 minutes. You choose the position (usually the upper incisor or canine), the style of the jewel, and your practitioner does the rest.

How long does it last? What you’re not always told

Duration varies between 6 months and 2 years depending on your hygiene, diet, and the position of the gem. Front teeth, which are less involved in chewing, tend to hold the jewel longer than side teeth.

A few habits to adopt to extend the life of your gem:

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
Avoid biting on ice cubes or hard objects
Keep up a good daily oral hygiene routine
Get regular scale-and-polishes at your dentist

And if your gem comes off before that? No worries. Your enamel is intact, and you can come in to have a new one placed at a short appointment.
